Paris -- Fashion Week

Life happens. But fashion never waits...

I have been extremely overwhelmed with balancing full-time work this summer, classes & assignments (full-time student status), and keeping up to date with the fast-paced fashionable know for inspiration for the Scene's line... However, fashion waits for no one. And with Fashion Week in Paris, I must share some spotted star style that I can seem to look away from...

I absolutely adore Olivia Palermo's Parisian style in this porcelain dolll inspired Valentino frock. Romantic cream beige lace with delicate floral details and minimal frills and ruffles is a perfect concoction of "cute" mixed with Victorian sophistication. The pairing of the frilly number with the maroon pumps (she's constantly sporting) adds a rich and warm effect, complimenting her newly dyed chocolate brown tresses. And the clutch? Quaint and beautifully paired... I am sure by now readers can tell I find Olivia's taste to be admirable (given that she has an affluent number of appearances in my posts); crowning her one of my modern day fashion icons. Her impeccable style inspires my personal taste when it comes to my closet purchases and am greatly flattered when close friends think of me whenever they see of Olivia.

Palermo, not one to be unfamiliar with a haute Valentino gown looks refreshing in this whimsical, almost ocean-inspired gown featuring a perfect balance of bohemian meets old-Hollywood glamour. Look at the sheer icicle blue oversized-bow waist detail... o.m.g...

Spotted out on the streets of Paris...

Gossip Girl fav, Leighton Meester at the Chanel Haute Couture Show. All I can say is one word comes to mind with this tough-bad-girl couture getup: fierce.

Taking a more demure, soft-spoken California girl glam approach is Gossip Girl, Blake Lively. Her personal choice for the Chanel show almost seems like it's paying homage to her alter-ego character, Serena Van der Woodsen don't you think?

You know you've made it when you get front row seats at the Christian Dior show, seated by none other than, Vogue power woman, Anna Wintour. Um, jealous much? Also, spotted seated front row (but not as lucky as Ms. Lively), Jessica Alba. In... yes, a Christian Dior piece of course... but did you not peep those Dior Mary-Janes? Can't... stop... drooling...

Jessica Alba
at the Christian Dior show.. have you ever seen such an adorably sexy baby mama?

Claire Danes at the Armani show in of course, Armani Prive. The sherbet watercolor inspired number fits the blonde beauty like a glove. Delectable, youthful, yet still ever so so classy... if you're going to be in Paris, nothing beats donning a romantic look from head to toe..

In Other News in Paris...
look where the Gossip Girl cast has been spotted filming...

I haven't followed up with Gossip Girl since season 2, only getting a few bits of 411 here and there from some girlfriends, but I always keep my eyes peered for the style featured in snapped photos during filming. Of course the show had to make a run for Paris with the characters.. these sneak peek looks to the characters' wardrobes already looks amazingly fashion forward. I would take Leighton's (Blair) wardrobe any day over Blake's (Serena) for some reason.. It's so dynamic, up-and-coming, and fearless. Okay, one exception: that Tibi electric blue trouser get-up on Blake... Anyone find the glam rock city chic photo of Blake Lively (Serena) to be oddly... scaled? She towers over the crew!

Give me a day in little Ms. Waldorf's fashionably abundant lifestyle please... I dream of teetering bags on my arms like a Christmas tree...

Soccer-mom royalty, Victoria Beckham seen out and about in a Miu Miu Resort 2010 number. So adorable! Though, I still find these cute little dresses she's seen in a tad bit too cute for her. Not very age appropriate. I would love to see this on Kate Bosworth or Sienna Miller. Victoria seems to be more suitable for the tough chick fashion-forward-esque look...

This time, in London in a Marc by Marc Jacobs bow-print dress. Once again, too sweet to pair up with the Posh. Adore the dress but not for her. I can see this dress with more of a rough-around-the-edges English rose a la Kiera Knightley or even Rachel Bilson...

I had my eyes set on these Marni shoes from the Fall 2009 line forever and was on a never ending, relentless search to snag a pair... and I must say: When I say it's going to be mine, it is going to be mine. Loved them in pictures, love them in person. I can rest peacefully now...

Until next time...

Resort Report 2010

Designers have been shaking up the runway with their Resort collections for the year of 2010. A couple that have caught QBee's eye? Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang, Chanel, Burberry Prorsum, Marchesa, and Miu Miu. Since this working gal can't catch a break during the vacation time... can I splurge in this as a fair substitute?

Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney's Resort line this year is my absolute favorite! I love the spruce of colors from the navy blue sailor motif to the khaki white pieces and spurts of yellow... giving the line a feel of "ocean seas traveling" touch. Of course, in every season, Stella always creates beautiful fully embellished jackets that surely would glitz up any dull outfit! What I love about the first two images, was her play with the angular triangle cut sleeves of the crisp white blouse and her different bottom pairings. I love the knotted midriff touch of the blouse paired with the glitzy black skinny trousers for that modernized crisp and clean look. But the second look! As if tucking the same blouse into a tight-at-the-waist kimono wrap belted black embellished skirt wasn't creative enough (whew, gotta come up for air)... I loved the pairing of the knee-length skirt with the liquid black open-toe cut-out leggings that blends into the black pumps. I drool over this look! Must try...

Alexander Wang
Always the master of mixing feminine with a tint of masculinity, Alexander Wang's Resort 2010 collection shows sensible cuts, whether in sparkly, one-piece cocktail dresses or perfectly integrated mix-and-match pieces. Adored by the stars, Alexander Wang is one of the few groundbreaking designers who redefined the designer world with his take on "comfortably chic". Who said you have to risk comfort for the sake of fashion?

Chanel
Chanel's Resort collection touched all bases this year. From the gypsy-chic breezy take on Aztec prints and  the romantic and earthy to the urban rock-and-roll glitz and glamour. Absolutely adore the soft, yet rich and cozy gray tank with the glittery blue lame shorts! And of course, regardless of the season, Chanel always includes a sleek cut, black ensemble: a boat-neck button up cardi with accentuated shoulder bow-ties to add a dash of classic femininity.. paired with skinny cigarette pants and black fringe-tiered heels. One phrase comes to mind in terms of Chanel: Tres Chic!

Burberry Prorsum
I have to say, Burberry Prorsum.. I absolutely, absolutely adore.. Throughout the past year, Burberry has kicked it up a notch with their collection. I love the varied shades of soft nudes with sandy, charcoal undertones. Trousers have been all the rage this past year, instantly making outfits look city chic. Chiffon dresses have always been appealing to the eyes, however it has quickly been adapted into footwear as well; softening up the bind and mold to the foot with a wrap around effect. I can't get enough of the delicate touch! Soft, mint green has been peeking in.. adding to the spring appeal. And of course, Burberry would not be Burberry without a soft, ruffle-ruched trench, staying true to its London appeal..

Marchesa
With the ongoing change in the fashion forecast, gravitating toward menswear inspiration.. Marchesa has always stayed dedicated to the touch of a woman's femininity. Designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, are known for their modernizing take on the Greek Goddess: romantic draping of chiffon with strategically embellished bodices. Marchesa has been the go-to designer for breath-taking red carpet numbers, worn by stars such as Taylor Swift, Mischa Barton, Blake Lively, and Diane Kruger. You never fail to take our breath away, Marchesa...
Miu Miu

3 Words come to mind: Sweet. Elegant. Fresh. Miu Miu makes you feel refreshed and renewed every time you don one of their pieces. Comfortable, sweet, and feminine: the pieces remind women that their youth is not to be forgotten... with the baby powder pink and neutral pieces, you can't help but feel like a little girl again... picking dandelions and making a hopeful wish for the moment...
